Josh and Carly Berg suffered the greatest loss a parent can go through, the loss of their child. At 6 years old, their daughter Ellie passed away in a freak accident, simply playing in their backyard. These conversations are never easy and we’ve had them and explored them on World Gone Good previously. They remain important because it’s what we do as human beings after, that’s where the good can be found. And that’s why Josh and Carly created the Be Like Ellie Foundation to honor their child. The mission is simple (and sometimes simple is the best way, isn’t it?): Spread love, be kind, play music—which is pretty much how their daughter lived her life. The Be Like Ellie Foundation encourages and supports simple acts of kindness to create a positive change. Through outreach programs, volunteer initiatives, and educational campaigns, this organization strive to empower individuals and groups to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others to build a more caring and inclusive society where every act of kindness ripples outward to create a brighter, more compassionate world for all. Isn’t that exactly what we all need more of in this moment we are collectively all in together?
